Every Fern Campervan comes with a fully electric setup. With four days of off-grid power* plus the capacity for charging from solar, driving, or shore power, you can rely on steady heat, hot water, and power – even when unplugged.
*Accounting for the induction hob and water heater being used for 30 minutes each per day. Assumes poor weather, no driving, and no shore power.

Minimising your impact on the surrounding environment is essential to leave-no-trace principles. Fern Campervans will only supply conversions which allow all waste to be carried away from our wild spaces and disposed of responsibly.
Materials are kept natural where possible, striking the compromise between longevity, repairability and natural warmth. Our Birch Plywood is FSC certified, our flooring is made from natural cork and our worktops are shaped by a zero-waste philosophy.

our story
New Zealand to the UK
Fern Campervans began in New Zealand, shaped by months on the road and weekend escapes. That Kiwi mindset of self-sufficiency, curiosity, and easy adventure still guides us: our vans are welcoming homes that are ready to move whenever you are.
Somerset became our base because it shares that spirit. With Exmoor, Dartmoor, Wales, and the coast all within reach, it is the ideal place to build vans for people who want more room for adventure and a calmer way to spend time outdoors.
Design ethos
Fern is built around thoughtful, engineering-led design. Between them, our founders bring experience from Dyson, multinational finance, project management – alongside years of real-world van life. Every layout, material, and storage solution is tested on actual trips, so it feels intuitive when you’re loading kit, cooking after dark, or setting off before sunrise.
We focus on clean, uncluttered interiors, smart use of space, and dependable off-grid systems that are simple to use. The result is a campervan that feels solid and reassuring on the move – a practical basecamp that helps you roam further and stay out longer, whether you’re away for a night or a month.
